Preparing Our Hearts for Serve Week

William Torres Sr.   -

As summer continues, excitement is building across our church family. Serve Week is right around the corner, and now is the perfect time to begin preparing our hearts. Serving others isn’t just something we do once a year, it’s a reflection of who we are as followers of Christ.

Serve Week is an opportunity to step outside the walls of our church and into the spaces where love and hope are needed most. Together, we’ll come alongside our communities, meet tangible needs, and reflect the heart of Jesus in practical, meaningful ways.

This year, we have some incredible opportunities to serve, including:

  • Hosting a block party right here at Worship Center for our CV families who are experiencing homelessness. A day filled with fun, food, backpacks, and care that says, you are seen and loved.
  • Serving men and women who are recovering from addiction, offering encouragement, support, and the reminder that God’s grace restores and renews.
  • Providing food for the hungry, care for the vulnerable, and a helping hand to our widows in need—simple acts of kindness that carry eternal impact.

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18

Imagine what God will do as we come together in unity and love. Every small act of service becomes a testimony of His compassion, and together, they create a wave of hope throughout our community.

You can be part of what God is doing in powerful ways:

  1. Donate socks and underwear on July 20th — provide necessities for kids 4-18 years old in the CV school district experiencing homelessness.
  2. Serve locally during Serve Week — use your gifts and time to make a real difference.
  3. Give generously — help fuel local and global outreach efforts, extending hope where it’s needed most.
  4. Pray faithfully — lift up the lives and hearts that will be touched during Serve Week and ask God to move powerfully.

We invite you to consider:

  • Is God calling you to step out and serve in new ways?
  • Is He inviting you to give, sowing into the lives of others as an expression of His generosity?
  • Is He stirring your heart to pray and cover this week in faith and expectation?

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” – Isaiah 6:8

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

– 2 Corinthians 9:11

This summer, let’s be a church known for how we love with open hands, open hearts, and a readiness to serve wherever God leads. Let’s be the kind of people who shine His light in every conversation, every act of kindness, and every moment we choose compassion over comfort.

Join us for Serve Week! Together, let’s make it a beautiful reflection of Jesus to our communities and beyond.
