Hebrews: A Book Study – Wk 2

Hebrews 3:4-8 (NLT)

For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.

Moses was certainly faithful in God’s house as a servant. His work was an illustration of the truths God would reveal later. But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.

That is why the Holy Spirit says,

“Today when you hear his voice,
    don’t harden your hearts
as Israel did when they rebelled,
when they tested me in the wilderness.

1. The battle is what you believe.

2. Reframe your situation through the lens of scripture.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

  • Don’t let fear shape your future.
  • You are wholly loved by God.
  • You have the ability to be who God created you to be and do what he created you to do in any situation.

3. The win is to be faithful.

Hebrews 3:14 (NLT)

14 For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.

COMMUNITY GROUP MEETING OUTLINE

Where your faith intersects with real life!

Reconnect:

Each person shares a recent high and low from their life.

Explore:

Review the message notes.

Big Idea: Win the battle in your mind by reframing your situation through the lens of scripture.

Consider:

Choose one or two questions for your Group to discuss as time allows.

▶ Read Hebrews 3:4-8. What kinds of circumstances make it difficult to “keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ”?

▶ Read Hebrews 3:14.

– What are some ways our trust can drift from what it was at the beginning?

– What is in the “all that belongs to Christ” that we get to share?

Activate:

Spend a moment in silence to consider your response, then share your decision with the Group.

Read 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV). Ask God to reveal an area of your life that He wants to help you reframe. What does He want to do in you?

Prayer:

Thank God for the highs and lift up the lows.

Read Mark 4:26-29. Pray that our church will scatter seeds that produce good crops.
