Kids Ministry Building Expansion Update

Josie Dadeboe   -

It’s a good problem to have when we’ve reached capacity within our Kids Ministry. The number of kids — babies through 4th grade — has grown exponentially over the last couple of years. On a Sunday morning, Worship Center classrooms are filled with kids doing crafts, playing games, worshiping, and learning about how Jesus is their friend.

Because we are quickly running out of space, we’ve expanded the Kids Ministry area by about 8,600 sq. ft.

Since beginning this initiative, we have added six new classrooms and are currently in phase 2 of the project.

The current phase of the project includes renovating the current Kids Ministry space and re-doing all of our existing spaces.

Here’s more on what you can expect during phase 2 of the Kids Ministry Expansion project:

– Refreshing of all of the classrooms and hallways with both paint and flooring

– Refreshing of the kids auditorium with paint and flooring

– Adding a restroom in one of the classrooms and adding sinks to several classrooms

– Renovating the check in / lobby area; removing the tree and adding check in stations

– Increasing coat racks and designating a space for stroller parking

These renovations began in January and, if you walk down our Kids Min wing, you’ll see a brighter hallway, freshly painted classrooms, and the signs of more work being done.

With the building expansion project, we aim to create a loving space that welcomes even more children and young families. Right now, our Kids Min attendance averages over 430 kids every Sunday.

As the number of kids continue to rise, we want to build a safe and fun atmosphere for all of God’s gifts to grow in their faith.

In Scripture, we see God’s heart for children:

“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him” (Psalm 127:3 NLT).

Since children are beautiful rewards from God, we take great responsibility in leading as many children as possible to be growing followers of Jesus Christ.

Seeing what the Lord is doing in our kids’ lives is incredible. Whether you have children or not, it takes a village to raise a child in the way that they should go. As a church community, our calling is to help our little ones build up their faith and experience the love of Jesus in a safe and healthy environment.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

Giving toward the expansion project is one of the many ways you can help to invest in the children. It is a great privilege and responsibility we have to disciple children. When you give to a project like this, yes, it is to pay the bills of renovating and expansion but ultimately, it’s to create more space so that we can disciple more children.

Financially, the building costs of the addition and some of the renovations are about $2.3 million.

The $2.3 million includes the cost of new construction for six new classrooms, the furnishings for those classrooms, updating the painting and flooring of the existing areas, and remodeling the check-in area.

Our Worship Center congregation has generously given $1,664,692 toward this expansion project. Presently, the total number of donors is 660 participants and the remaining balance is $585,308. Thank you so much for all of your generosity and investing in the faith of our current and upcoming generations.

With faith and trust in God, our stretch goal is to pay off the remaining balance of the expansion project by the end of August 2024. The amount needed to make this happen is $117,062 per month. If we all work together, we can make this goal a reality. Together, let’s make an impact and trust our God to see this amount paid off.

Over the next several months, what could God be prompting you to do to see this amount paid off?
