Kingdom Driven Generosity – Pt 2

THREE THEMES IN MATTHEW CHAPTER 25:

1. Urgency: Let the promise of Christ’s return shape our priorities today.

2. Faithfulness: Use what we’ve been given to advance God’s kingdom.

3. Compassion: Let Jesus transform how we see and serve the least among us.

Matthew 25 Project

Vision:

To make disciples who advance kingdom initiatives through sacrificial and strategic generosity.

God-sized Goal:

Give away $2 million in 2 years to kingdom initiatives.

Focus:

• Elevate God’s Word…because we love God.

• Value the sanctity of human life…because we love people.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (NLT)

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

God-sized goals demand faith and display God’s glory.

SMALL GROUP MEETING OUTLINE

Where your faith intersects with real life!

Reconnect:

Each person shares a recent high and low from their life.

Review the message notes.

Big Idea: Matthew 25 Project is a God-sized goal to give generously with who we are and what we have to advance kingdom initiatives.

Consider:

Choose one or two questions for your Group to discuss as time allows.

▶ Have you ever heard a friend say, “We should pray about it, but let’s do it!” Or maybe you’ve said something similar. Talk about how this attitude can move God’s kingdom forward.

▶ Matthew chapter 25 highlights the importance of urgency, faithfulness, and compassion. Pick one of these words and share with the group why you believe it is vital to have this attribute to participate in God’s kingdom.

▶ The vision for Matthew 25 Project is, “To make disciples who advance kingdom initiatives through sacrificial and strategic generosity.” What thoughts does this vision generate in you?

▶ Read Ephesians 3:14-21. Pastor Matt followed this passage with this statement, “God-sized goals demand faith and display God’s glory.” Reread the passage and take a moment to talk about how this passage calls us to expand our imaginations to match God’s call upon us as a church family.

Activate:

Spend a moment in silence to consider your response, then share with the Group.

Our church will support initiatives that elevate God’s Word and value the sanctity of life. Take a moment and be silent as a group. Listen to the Holy Spirit after asking, “Holy Spirit, begin to help me see how I can put my hand to this work along with my brothers and sisters at Worship Center.” Feel free to share what comes to your mind with your group or hold what you hear privately.

Prayer:

Thank God for the highs and lift up the lows.

Thank Jesus for planting us in a church that is taking new ground for the kingdom of God. Close the prayer by asking, “Lord, begin to show me my part in Matthew 25 Project.”
