South Africa Trip Recap

At the end of June, Betsy and I had the privilege of partnering with our Global Partners, Henry & Diane Fisher, and serving the people of Shigamani Village. We encouraged the local church, spent time with children, invested in men, women, and married couples, helped with the construction of a future Bible Training Center and Guest House, and had countless opportunities to simply love people and point them to Jesus.

Three men gave their lives to Christ, four people were baptized including one husband and wife together, and we watched God move in hearts throughout the week. We also had the chance to encourage the employees of the bakery and supermarket ministry, reminding them that God has given their work eternal purpose and that He values faithfulness in the everyday things.

One of my favorite parts of the trip happened every evening. I had each member of our team bring a short devotional from Scripture and share how God had been speaking to them that day. Those moments became so special. As we listened to one another, it became clear that God wasn’t just working through our team, He was working in our team. It was amazing to watch each person grow in their walk with the Lord throughout the trip.

Some of my favorite moments weren’t even on the schedule. They happened while walking through the village, handing out sweets to children, sitting around sharing a homemade meal, and simply being present. Those are the moments that stay with you.

I was also so proud of our team. They served with humility, worked hard, were incredibly flexible, and loved people without hesitation. They represented Worship Center so well, and it was a joy to watch them pour themselves out for others. A special thank you to one of our team members, Dado, who cooked for so many people over four different days by preparing an incredible Brazilian-style BBQ (Braai). We are so grateful he brought his cooking skills and servant’s heart to the team. Those meals became more than just food, they created opportunities for fellowship, conversations, and ministry.

As we wrapped up the trip with a safari before beginning our long journey home, we couldn’t stop thanking God for all He had done. The trip may be over, but God’s work in Shigamani is just getting started.
