Expanding God’s Kingdom…with Our Time

Matt Mylin   -

What if the resources in your hands today could change someone’s life tomorrow?

That’s what Matthew 25 Project is all about.

This next expansion isn’t about adding square footage to a building. It’s about how we can participate in expanding the Kingdom of God.

As our Board prayed and sought God together, two clear priorities rose to the surface:

Elevate God’s Word…because we love God.

We want to get His Word into the hands of people who don’t have access to it.

Value the sanctity of life…because we love people.

Life is a gift. Meeting basic needs reminds people that they matter to God.

We believe God is inviting us to a God-sized goal: to give away $2 million in two years to advance these Kingdom initiatives.

This is a big giving goal. But it’s also an invitation to invest something even more valuable: our time.

Time is a gift. It’s valuable because it’s limited.

None of us knows how much we have. But every hour given to God’s Kingdom is an investment in eternity.

Paul writes, “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity…understand what the Lord wants you to do.” (Ephesians 5:15-17)

Reordering our schedule toward God’s Kingdom could look like giving an hour away per week to invest in a relationship or to help someone in need.

God doesn’t ask you for what you don’t have. He starts with what’s already in your hand.

Moses learned this at the burning bush. Overwhelmed and full of self-doubt, he protested God’s call.

What does God do? He asks a very important question: “What is that in your hand?” (Exodus 4:2)

He shifts Moses’ fears to a clear picture of what he already has. A simple shepherd’s staff.

Yet God used that ordinary staff to lead His people out of Egypt.

God does the same today. He takes what you already have, your time, talents, skills, and money, and multiplies them when they’re released for Kingdom purposes.

Using your time and talents well requires wisdom. Paul reminds us that, “In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3)

In other words, Jesus is the source of wisdom for how to use what you have for Kingdom opportunities.

His wisdom helps you choose not just between right and wrong, but between good, better, and best.

Let Him guide you on how to steward your hours, skills, and experience toward what truly matters.

What’s in your hand today? How can you use it to advance God’s Kingdom?
