Our weapons defeat the devil as we speak the Word of God.
As followers of Christ we need to understand the importance of what the name of Jesus means to us. There is power and authority that is available to us if we decide to live and conduct our lives according to the Word of God. Christ's redemptive work on the cross gave us eternal life. We have also been given His name to live a lifestyle of victory here on the earth, to use in our prayer times, and as we go about our day.
We as God's children can live a life of freedom that our Father has intended for us all along. Our enemy, the devil, would like to work his plan of defeat on us, but Colossians 2:15 says, "Having disarmed principalities and powers, He (Jesus) made a public spectrum of them, triumphing over them in it." Paul tells us the devil is already defeated when Jesus once and for all redeemed mankind.
When we use the name of Jesus, I picture in my mind the enemy's darts turning to dust and rubber as they are headed in my direction...wait...on second thought he doesn't have any weapons anymore, not according to the scripture we just read. He uses lies and deception to try and defeat us, but we know where our power and authority come from. Our weapons defeat the devil as we speak the Word of God over anything we are facing and use the name of Jesus. The power in Jesus’ name is the power to save, heal, and deliver.
