Lots of sticks are left on the ground after a strong wind storm. These twigs have no connection to the tree they came from and may not have been connected for awhile. As a result, they withered and just hung there, waiting for the next storm to blow them away.
"Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5
Just like branches of a vine, spiritual growth only comes as you stay connected to Jesus. One practical way to stay connected to Him is by maintaining healthy relationships with other Christians. As you begin to learn what it means to follow Jesus with your whole life, you will rely on these relationships to encourage and challenge you. These relationships can be made as you participate in a small group or by serving on a team at church. Whatever you choose, make sure you begin to make friends that will keep you connected and growing!
Questions to consider
