Kids Ministry Building Expansion Update

Josie Dadeboe   -

It’s a good problem to have when we’ve reached capacity within our Kids Ministry. The number of kids — babies through 4th grade — has grown exponentially over the last couple of years. On a Sunday morning, Worship Center classrooms are filled with kids doing crafts, playing games, worshiping, and learning about how Jesus is their friend.

Because we are quickly running out of space, we’ve expanded the Kids Ministry area by about 8,600 sq. ft.

As of September 2023, we are happy to announce that the Kids Ministry classrooms are now open! WCKids recently hosted an Open House inviting the church to tour the new space.

The next phase of our renovations includes the current Kids Ministry space. These renovations will begin sometime early next year.

With the building expansion project, we aim to create a loving space that welcomes even more children and young families. On Easter Sunday alone, 490 children, including birth through fourth grade, early childhood, and elementary students, packed the Worship Center classrooms that day!

Typically, a large number, like 490 children, is really close to the regular number of kids attending Worship Center every Sunday. As the number of kids rises, we want to build a safe and fun atmosphere for all of God’s gifts to grow in their faith.

“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him” (Psalm 127:3 NLT).

Seeing what the Lord is doing in our kids’ lives is incredible. Whether you have children or not, it takes an entire village to raise a child in the way that they should go. As a church community, our calling is to help our little ones build up their faith and experience the love of Jesus in a safe and healthy environment.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

Giving toward the expansion project is one of the many ways you can help to invest in the children. Financially, the building costs of the addition and some of the renovations are about $2.3 million. The $2.3 million includes the cost of new construction for six new classrooms, the furnishings for those classrooms, updating the painting and flooring of the existing areas, and remodeling the check-in area.

So far, the Worship Center community has generously given $1,028,612 toward this expansion project. Presently, the total number of donors is 487 participants and the remaining balance is $1,271,388. Thank you so much for all of your generosity and investing in the faith of our current and upcoming generations.
