Ministry of Construction Report
Ministry of Construction (MOC) is a team of people from Worship Center who have joined together to express the love of Jesus and appreciation to the workers who are building our new facility. This team serves meals, washes the workers’ vehicles, provides support through prayer, and many other creative ways that show them we care. The goal of this team is for the workers to not only know we are thankful to them for the work they are doing on our ministry facility, but for them to experience God's love in the practical ways we serve them. We hope many of them will open their hearts to Jesus.
Team leaders, made up of church family members, give oversight and direction to five main areas in MOC:
The Hospitality Team, led by Jimmy Fannin. Jimmy’s support team includes Joe McCade, Rob Butler (oversees the hospitality trailer), Richard Pringle, and Robin Horst (oversees lunches). The Hospitality Team plans one meal per week for the construction workers. This is almost completely provided by volunteers. Robin is putting together a master calendar with meals planned months ahead. They are also keeping the trailer stocked with drinks, comfortable for the guys.
The Appreciation Team, led by Krista Stauffer. This team includes Steve Showalter, John Achue, Kathy Dulay, Sherry Cunningham. Their goal is to show one to three expressions of appreciation to the workers each week throughout the construction process. They are creating a master calendar, planning out months ahead. Things like washing the guys’ trucks and cars and providing different baked good items every day of the week have already been done. New creative ways are planned weekly.
Appreciation & Hospitality will join forces for larger events that will take place later.
The Prayer Team, led by Chris & Irv Heller. This team also includes Jay Walton and Dawn Lefever. A prayer box is located in the hospitality trailer, where needs can be anonymously submitted for prayer. This team plans to have some Christian literature available in the trailer for the guys. There will be other creative ways of incorporating prayer, such as prayer gatherings on site while the guys are working.
The Publicity Team is currently being covered by Worship Center’s Communications Department. One of the goals is to communicate events to help encourage more people to get involved. It also serves to keep the congregation informed of what’s taking place through MOC.
The Volunteer Team, led by Steph Shunk. Rochelle Monderewicz is also helping Steph. They coordinate volunteers for all events happening through MOC. Currently, around 91 families have signed up to help in various areas of MOC. Steph and Rochelle are also providing other administrative help to the other teams.
The Service Team is designed to help workers on site with tasks, whether it be to carry tools, clean up the workers’ area at night so they can come in to a clean area, or the many other service-oriented tasks that take place on a regular basis. This group is in need of a team leader.
Ministry of Construction could use many more volunteers to help make this experience meaningful for our construction workers. Many have talked about how much they have enjoyed working on our job site. Many of these workers are only on our campus for a short time, and some have already completed their work here. If you are interested in becoming a fellow MOC team member, please contact Joe Castronova or Christa Bivins in the church office.
