MOC Meals are a Hit!

Ministry of Construction is how we, as a church family, are participating in expressing appreciation and blessing to the workers who are building our new facility. The on-site MOC trailer is where these workers can go to take a quick break and enjoy a hot or cold beverage and a snack. They are also served a hot meal once a week by Worship Center volunteers.

WC members, Robert & Heather Butler are overseeing the scheduling of meals, and recently they made renovations to the trailer that included a new serving area. A portion of an inner wall was knocked out and counter tops were added. This gave the trailer a much more open feel and added space to serve more people. In a gesture of appreciation, RS Mowery & Sons, the general contractor for WC's building project, donated and installed one of these new counter tops.

Many of the workers have also shown appreciation for the meals. On one occasion, just before a meal, a worker stood up and made an impromptu announcement on behalf of all the workers, thanking Worship Center and the volunteers for cooking meals and providing drinks and snacks. He also stated that this was the best job he had ever worked on, and he never heard of any other job where people served the workers like this. The trailer erupted in applause!

Brian Zern, Site Superintendent from Mowery, shared that this is the most amazing job site he's ever worked on. His crew is on a rotation of 3-4 jobs including Worship Center, and everyone talks about and looks forward to the days when they are back at WC.

Heather has noticed that not just the workers but those serving the workers are equally affected by the whole experience. "God is doing something in their hearts, " she said. "They love being a part of it, and they can't wait to serve more."

Meals are happening every Wednesday in November. The next meal will be on Veterans Day, November 11, themed around honoring those who have fought for our country.
