Mission Trip Report
| Pass
Christian, Mississippi |
February
28-March 3, 2007 |
|
A
team of ten men and women set out for a trip to Pass Christian,
Mississippi, February 28–March 3. Their mission
was to return to Church of the Good Shepherd and assist
in serving the people who were affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Team members kept themselves busy with such things as
painting, cooking, plumbing, hanging and repairing drywall,
and general clean-up duties.
When traveling on a team like this, you are not only touching
the lives of others, but your life is touched as well.
Here are some comments from several team members:
“This
was a life-changing experience. I gained a new appreciation
for my home.” - Robert Douple “I
am happy I was a part of this adventure – it has
opened my eyes to “another world.” It is overwhelming
to me [to see] the work that still needs [to be] completed.”
- Lucile Burkholder “[We did]
meaningful work and got to meet the homeowners on each
project.” - Donald Robinson
There are thousands of families that are still dealing
with the loss of their home and a normal life. August
2005 seems like a long time ago when Katrina hit, but
it surely seems even longer for those who still do not
have their home rebuilt. If you are interested in getting
involved in a future team, please contact Amy Murphy in
the church office.
